TASO BASEBALL
If you are a paid state member, login. Otherwise, you cannot access COURSES.
If you are a visitor (coach, player, etc.), every page is open to you except the top, right-hand site, titled COURSES
This is the main page. To be sure you read all the announcements, please scroll down until you reach the Moodle logo.
Thanks to Javier Chirinos for these photos of Victor Treviño at the state tournament.
At home. (This is the closest rookies get to the plate at state.)
Hands-on-knees set. Peligroso, but it "looks" professional. Victor assures us that at the time of the pitch he lifts his hands, which makes it easier to dodge blue darters.
Victor in C with R1. The TASO mechanics manual mandates this position. Our mechanics allow the umpire to choose: B or C.
Victor in B with R1/R2. Advantage: will not block the shortstop. Advantage: perfect for pickoff when right-handed pitcher uses the open move to second. Disadvantage: He's probably too far in on the grass; even so, many MLB umpires have abandoned the dirt to move onto the skin. Your choice.
Finally: a shot of Victor in action!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The 2009 (2010 season) dues have been sent. Click here to see the names of the 51 members who met the deadline. If your name is not on the list (and 49 umpires are missing), you will owe $75 dollars to become eligible to work TASO baseball next year.
If you did not meet the deadline for payment of 2010 season dues, you MUST submit a signed application and reinstatement fee by 1 November. The chapter will send your application and late fee to Austin during the first week of November, 2009.
After that, the next submission will be on 1 February, 2010, which means those umpires will not receive rule books/case books until March.
How to get registered:
1. If you signed the pre-printed application in April, send $75 to Roy Luna, PO Box 838, Donna, 78541. Make out the check to TASO and put "2009 state dues" on the FOR line.
2. If you did not sign that application. download one from the website, print it, fill it out, and mail it and your reinstatement fee to Roy.
You have five months to be registered and still receive full benefits on time.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Many of you will be working baseball right up until high school begins in February, 2010. ONLY THE 51 WHO MET THE DUES DEADLINE ARE STILL COVERED BY TASO INSURANCE (liability/injury), which is in effect for varsity, sub-varsity, junior high games, and middle school games. It also extends to travel (to and from) and officiating college, junior college, independent youth, adult, and recreational leagues.
ADDITIONAL NOTICE
If you want to reinstate your TASO insurance and register for 2010 UIL games before November, send your application and $75 dollar fee (PLUS $5.00 CHAPTER PENALTY FEE) to Roy. The application will go off immediately.
